A South-East group, the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, has faulted the poll figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the outcome of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
DAILY POST recalls that the election was eventually won by Governor Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Reacting to the outcome of the polls, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, who is the secretary of the ECA said the result of the poll was padded.
Ugochukwu-Uko, who is also the founder, Igbo Youth Movement (IYM) as well as Deputy Secretary, Igbo Leaders of Thought (ILT) said the figure was inflated to deceive the international community into believing that the election was not boycotted in line with calls by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
According to him, “a very dangerous precedent is being set by Government agents, apologists and all sorts of hypocrites and sycophants, who are applauding the Sat. Nov. 18 Governorship elections in Anambra.
“Whereas INEC officially acknowledged that more than 75% of the 2.2 million voters who collected their PVCs stayed away, observers on ground believe that more than 90% stayed away.
“But for the inflated figures and the induced “multiple” voters, the grand total of votes cast would have been less than 100,000, instead of the over 400,000 votes bandied about by master riggers.
“The repulsive cash payments made openly by two political parties at the polling booth, is enough to cancel the election and a re-run ordered. The sickening applause by praise singers and other cheer leaders who are actually celebrating the false narrative that the 18thNovember elections were free and fair, is the beginning of the death of Nigeria.
“Whereas the government, in its desperation to prove that the elections boycott was ineffective and therefore willing to let the charade stand as valid, observers have noted that every contestant will definitely move in bullion vans to each both for cash payments to induce voters in 2019. After all, if the Buhari led government accepted that in Anambra in November 2017, why would anybody complain about the new norm in 2019. Cash payments at voting centres has come to stay, introduced in Anambra on 18th November 2017, and accepted as normal by the Buhari government. It has become one of the great legacies of the Buhari government.
“The central government refuses to investigate, prosecute those behind it and even nullify such dubious elections, probably because the party that was awarded victory does not represent a threat to the ruling party.”
He further stated that “as we accept this horrifying anomaly as valid and commendable elections, we are only preparing the death of Nigeria. As we pretend that the election boycott of 18 November 2017 in Anambra is insignificant, we are only warming up to make 2019 election not only laughable but impossible.
“Nigeria has began to die, before our very eyes. Truth is buried and falsehood celebrated. As a very sick country, with boiling flash points in the North-East and South east, prefers to dwell in falsehood built not only on a false unitary structure but now also on a laughable and frightening electoral culture, it is clear to all that the very survival of Nigeria has become doubtful.
“Let truth be told, celebrating the Anambra sham elections of 18th November 2017 will obviously kill Nigeria.
“The South East boils in humiliation, the youth is bitter and sad, political hustlers and the elite club strut about as if all is well. Abuja boasts the frightened and black mailed political leaders have helped them crush the restructuring clamour with operation python dance. The grave silence in the region is mistakenly taken for acquiescence.
“The central government boasts the South East has been forcefully pacified. Truth is that our people are daily losing faith in Nigeria. Our cries don’t seem to matter. The younger generation believes everything is being done to enslave them and are resolved to resist that. They are slowly loosing interest in Nigeria.”
