WhatsApp Extends Blackberry Shutdown Till June 2017

WhatsApp earlier this year announced they would no longer be supporting BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 handsets by the end of 2016 but it seems they have changed their mind.

According to an update in the FAQ section of the WhatsApp App it has now been extended to June 2017.

As announced in our blog, we will soon be ending support for certain devices. On June 30, 2017, we will no longer support the following platforms:
BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 Nokia S40 Nokia Symbian S60 The following platforms will no longer be supported at the beginning of 2017:
Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 Windows Phone 7 iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
These platforms don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android running OS 2.3+, a Windows Phone 8+, or an iPhone running iOS 7+ before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.

The new update for the BlackBerry 10 version is available through BlackBerry World, it should be however noted that this just resets the time-bomb built into the app. a whole lot of people have been trying to dispose their phones to get compatible ones but i guess now they’ll wait a little more.

This remarkable success made “Farmer’s Bride” the highest-grossing Nollywood film in its opening weekend for an 18-rated film in 2024. It also secured the fourth position among all Nollywood movies released in that opening weekend.

The film, directed by Adebayo Tijani and Jack’enneth Opukeme, has garnered praise and recognition for its captivating storyline and performances.

On October 7, 2024, Filmone Entertainment, the producers and distributors of “Farmer’s Bride,” officially announced the film’s impressive box office performance. This achievement highlights the growing popularity and commercial success of Nollywood films.

The Nollywood film is set in 1980s Ibadan and tells a captivating story of love, betrayal, and the supernatural.

The film follows the tale of Odun, a wealthy but lonely farmer, who seeks companionship through marriage with a young bride named Funmi. However, their union faces challenges as Funmi struggles to find happiness and eventually becomes involved in a forbidden affair with Odun’s nephew.

The consequences of their actions lead to a haunting and suspenseful narrative. Released on September 27, 2024, “Farmer’s Bride” features a talented cast, including Tobi Bakre, Gbubemi Ejeye, Femi Branch, Mercy Aigbe, Efe Irele, and Wumi Toriola.

The Nile Media Entertainment team has launched a new voucher system called “Atlas by Reach.” They’re using the upcoming movie “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3” by Omoni Oboli to promote it.

The team announced the launch on their official Instagram page.

“We launched a foremost and innovative voucher system for producers and filmmakers across Nigeria and beyond.

The voucher system called ‘Atlas by Reach’ was launched with @omonioboli’s highly anticipated “THE UPRISING :Wives on Strike 3” film and it makes it easy to pre-order tickets before showtime. Anyone (Influencers, Celebrities, Staff, Lovers etc.) can buy tickets to a movie in advance, they can also gift the tickets to others,” the post said.

On July 10, 2024, Omoni Oboli showed a short video of her new movie “Wives on Strike 3.” The first “Wives on Strike” movie came out in 2016. The second one, “Wives on Strike: The Revolution,” came out in 2018.

The movie is about a group of women who refuse to have sex with their husbands until the husbands help a young girl whose father forced her to marry an older man. This is also a protest against violence against women in the community.

The movie is funny but also starts a serious discussion about important issues women face. It will be in theaters on October 18, 2024. The movie stars Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, Omoni Oboli, Ufuoma McDermott, Hilda Dokubo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), and May Yul-Edochie.
