After months of anticipation, Wizkid has finally released his first single of 2024, “Piece of My Heart,” featuring American RnB star Brent Faiyaz. The track blends familiar RnB mid-tempo fusion, a sound Wizkid has mastered.
With heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies, the song continues the smooth, soothing vibe from his “Made In Lagos” album. Produced by P2J and Dpat, the record showcases Wizkid and Brent Faiyaz singing about love and good times. One standout feature of the song is the beat switch midway through, adding a fresh twist to the track.
The song also samples iconic hits. It draws from Wu-Tang Clan’s 1994 single “Can It Be All So Simple” and Gladys Knight & The Pips’ cover of Barbra Streisand’s 1973 song “The Way We Were.” These elements add a nostalgic touch to the track while keeping it fresh and modern.
