By achieving this feat, Wizkid has surpassed the previous record held by Omah Lay, who had maintained a gap of 1 year, 10 months, and 16 days between his number-one tracks. This remarkable accomplishment further cements Wizkid’s status as a titan of the Nigerian music industry, with his longevity and continued dominance at the summit of the mainstream scene spanning over a decade.
The celebrated singer-songwriter is now gearing up for the highly anticipated release of his sixth studio album, “Morayo,” which he has named in tribute to his late mother. Ahead of this impactful project, Wizkid delighted fans with the second instalment of his “Soundman” EP, which dropped in December 2023.
Kicking off 2024 with a string of guest appearances, Wizkid lent his vocals to DJ Tunez’s “Apala Disco,” Shenseea’s “Work Me Out,” and most recently, Asake’s chart-topping hit, “MMS.” As anticipation builds for the release of “Morayo,” the Grammy winner has confirmed the inclusion of fellow Nigerian artists, asserting that this will be the best project he has ever created.
Wizkid’s unparalleled success and longevity within the Nigerian music landscape continue to make his status solid as a true icon, inspiring a new generation of artists while cementing his own legacy as one of the country’s most revered and influential musical talents.
