Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, has called on his brothers, Peter Okoye and their older brother Jude. This is to maintain their brotherly relationship despite the ongoing split and feud among them.

During a recent Instagram livestream, Paul actively urged his brothers to come together as a family. He emphasised that their bond as brothers should not be affected by their decision to no longer work together in the music industry.

He began, “Even if we don’t do Psquare, can’t we be brothers? Even if we can’t do music, can’t we be brothers?”

He added, “Let me just end it there. Thank you very much. Like I said, I don’t want to talk much. Yes, I didn’t talk much before, but you see, it’s unfortunate.”

Paul Okoye’s recent plea to his brothers follows closely on the heels of Jude Okoye’s decision to break his silence about P-Square’s split. On August 17, 2024, Jude addressed the situation during an Instagram live session, where he actively denied Peter Okoye’s accusations of diverting P-Square’s royalties, allegedly worth millions of dollars, into a private account.

The tension between the brothers escalated after Paul, in an interview with City FM, openly stated that he had parted ways with his twin brother Peter. Paul revealed that Peter expressed no further interest in continuing with the group. He also claimed that Peter had involved the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to have him arrested.

In response to Paul’s statements, Peter Okoye took to Instagram on August 12, 2024, where he shared an open letter expressing his frustrations and concerns. He accused Paul of undermining their shared legacy and dismissing his individual contributions to P-Square. Peter also refuted the claims about the EFCC’s involvement.

He wrote in part,

“An open letter to my dear brother Paul Okoye, aka Rudeboy. Just like I have told you several times, I am not in competition with you or anybody else. However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my effort to the group that we both created and built together speaks volumes. In your recent interviews, you claim that you wrote and sang 99% of all P Square songs.”

In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, Tems addressed the controversial claim from Buju Banton. Buju Banton claimed that Afrobeats fails to reflect the true realities of its listeners. The Grammy-winning singer argued that Afrobeats, like any other musical genre, serves a specific purpose for its creators, who are predominantly Nigerian.

She emphasized that Afrobeats is a form of pop music designed to provide its audience with a joyful and uplifting experience, similar to pop music from other regions of the world.

Tems countered Buju Banton by highlighting the positive and celebratory nature of Afrobeats, which offers a much-needed escape from the challenges of everyday life.

Tems further emphasised that “Afrobeats is not Reggae, it’s not Rock, it’s for a certain purpose. Thinking about its origin which is Nigeria, it’s for a certain purpose and you can join us in its enjoyment.”

In a recent episode of the Drinking Champs Podcast, Buju Banton made a controversial statement about Afrobeats. He claimed that the movement’s music fails to accurately represent the realities of its predominantly Black audience across Africa. Banton further argued that Nigerian artists leading the global Afrobeats movement have neglected to acknowledge the contributions of Jamaican stars.

Banton’s criticism of Afrobeats sparked reactions from several artists. These include Jamaican Dancehall star Spice. Spice disagreed with her compatriot, pointing out that there are numerous Afrobeats acts, such as Burna Boy and Falz, whose music addresses sociopolitical issues and reflects the realities of their listeners.

In the same interview, Tems addressed the false and offensive rumors that she was pregnant for American rapper Future. The singer dismissed these rumors as an attempt to spread the most outrageous and baseless gossip possible by purveyors of fake news.

Tems also shared insights into her recently released debut album, “Born In The Wild.” The album features guest appearances from Asake and J Cole. She discussed the creative process behind the album and the personal significance of its songs.
