Burna Boy breaks silence on protest | fab.ng

Burna Boy, a famous singer from Nigeria, has finally spoken about the big protest that happened on August 1, 2024. This protest took place all over Nigeria. Burna Boy said he doesn’t feel like fighting anymore. He explained that he lost his fighting spirit back in 2020 during ENDSARS.

On August 1, 2024, many people in Nigeria joined a protest. They called it #Endbadgovernment. This means they want to stop bad leadership in their country.

A lot of people were waiting to hear what Burna Boy thought about this protest. He used a social media platform called X (which some people might know as Twitter) to explain why he hadn’t said anything about the protest. He made it clear that he doesn’t want people to ask him to get involved.

“The fight in me died on this day. Ogun go doggy, anybody wey call my name this time around,” he wrote, highlighting an old post from 2020 where protesters refused to play his songs during the protests and chanted, “No Burna, cancelled!”

Burna Boy wrote a message on X. After people read his message, they had many different thoughts about it. Some people were upset that Burna Boy hadn’t said anything before. These people wrote comments under Burna Boy’s message. In their comments, they criticized Burna Boy for staying quiet about the protest.

An X user wrote, “Oga, shut up. Because they did you bad doesn’t mean you should give up. U taught us to keep fighting in your songs but u dey here dey cap nonsense.”

“I taught you to keep fighting your oppressors but you chose to fight me,” Burna Boy replied.

Because you wan ghost and you de call yourself African giant,” to which the singer replied, “I don’t hand over to Falz bros.”

After he said this, many people on X got angry with him. These people wrote messages criticizing Burna Boy. They said that  Falz already had the title Burna Boy was claiming.

Falz is a rapper who makes music where he speaks words quickly to a beat. These X users felt that Burna Boy was wrong to say what he did because they believed Falz deserved the credit instead.

“What did you hand over?? Oga na Falz dey hold am before you, no hand over anything,” said a disgruntled X user.

Another person commented, “Lmfao. You didn’t hand anything over, you were just using Nigeria misery to make music and money for yourself.”

In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, Tems addressed the controversial claim from Buju Banton. Buju Banton claimed that Afrobeats fails to reflect the true realities of its listeners. The Grammy-winning singer argued that Afrobeats, like any other musical genre, serves a specific purpose for its creators, who are predominantly Nigerian.

She emphasized that Afrobeats is a form of pop music designed to provide its audience with a joyful and uplifting experience, similar to pop music from other regions of the world.

Tems countered Buju Banton by highlighting the positive and celebratory nature of Afrobeats, which offers a much-needed escape from the challenges of everyday life.

Portable On How Zlatan Came Between His Relationship With Davido

Portable On How Zlatan Came Between Him and Davido | fab.ng

In a recent interview on Echo Room, Portable shed light on his relationship with Afrobeats superstar Davido. He claimed that things were going well between them until Zlatan, another prominent artist, interfered.

Earlier this year, Portable embarked on a tour of America. During this trip, he met up with Davido, who generously gifted him a pair of sneakers.

However, the situation took a turn for the worse. Portable later took to social media, launching into a tirade against Zlatan. He accused the fellow musician of spreading false information about him to Davido, potentially damaging their newfound connection.

Portable explained that he was in the United States, actively seeking collaborations with a foreign artist. It was during this time that he received an unexpected call from Davido, inviting him to hang out. The Street Pop star revealed that while spending time with Davido, Zlatan allegedly warned the Grammy nominee to be cautious about associating with Portable.

The fallout from this incident led to days of social media outbursts from Portable. He repeatedly accused Zlatan of sabotaging his relationship with Davido, expressing frustration and anger over the situation.

Eventually, Portable took a step back and apologized to Zlatan. This move was part of his broader efforts to mend broken relationships within the industry.

Zlatan isn’t the only celebrity Portable has clashed with in 2024. Earlier in the year, he found himself embroiled in a highly publicized dispute with socialite Bobrisky. The feud attracted significant attention on social media and in the press.

More recently, Portable resolved his differences with musician Goya Menor. Their disagreement stemmed from the 2022 Headies Best Street Pop Award, highlighting the competitive nature of the Nigerian music scene.

Despite these controversies, Portable continues to focus on his music career. He recently released a new single titled “Oriade,” which he performed during his interview session on Echo Room.
