Rema: Nigeria ranks #8 on his most streamed countries list | fab.ng

Rema, a leading voice in Afrobeats, is taking the world by storm with his infectious music and innovative sound. Here’s a deep dive into how his music has performed on Spotify over the past year, revealing both the global reach of his talent and the demographics of his fans.

Super Shareable Songs

Rema’s catchy tunes are clearly resonating with listeners. Over the past year, his songs have been added to playlists a staggering 28.1 million times. This immense number shows just how much people are enjoying his music and sharing it with others. Additionally, with his tracks being saved to user libraries a whopping 24.3 million times in the same period, it’s clear that fans are eager to come back for more.

Who’s Listening? Rema’s Fan Base

Rema seems to have a strong connection with female listeners. In the last month, a significant 52% of his listeners were women, while 44% were men. This could be due to the themes explored in his music or simply the catchy melodies that resonate with a wider audience.

When it comes to age, young adults are at the heart of Rema’s fanbase. A quarter (26%) of his listeners fall between the ages of 23-27, and another quarter (25%) are aged 28-34. This suggests that Rema’s music taps into the energy and experiences of this young generation.

Global Afrobeats Taking Over

Rema’s music transcends borders and captivates a global audience. North America has taken the crown for streaming his music over the past month, with the United States and Mexico being his top listeners. This highlights the growing popularity of Afrobeats around the world. Interestingly, while his home country Nigeria sits at number 8 on the list, it still demonstrates Rema’s international appeal and the ability of his music to connect with fans from all corners of the globe.

NBA 2K25 soundtrack album: Asake's 'Wave' makes the list | fab.ng

Asake, the Nigerian superstar, has achieved another milestone as his collaboration with British rapper Central Cee earned a spot on the NBA 2K25 season 2 soundtrack album.

Specifically, ‘Wave,’ a standout track from Asake’s third album ‘Lungu Boy,’ now features alongside songs from prominent American artists such as Key Glock and Lil Pete on the game’s soundtrack.

Notably, Asake stands as the only Afrobeats artist on this album, marking a significant continuation of Afrobeats’ presence in the game series. Previously, Adekunle Gold’s ‘Party No Dey Stop,’ featuring Zinoleesky, appeared in the NBA 2K24 soundtrack album.

Furthermore, through this achievement, Asake joins an elite group of Nigerian pop stars, including Adekunle Gold and Burna Boy, who have contributed to the soundtrack of this popular game. Impressively, the 2024 version has already sold over 9 million units worldwide.

Additionally, this inclusion further solidifies Asake’s position as a global superstar, as he has consistently proven himself to be one of Afrobeats’ most dynamic hitmakers. Since his breakthrough into the mainstream in 2022, he has maintained an impressive streak of commercial success, consistently delivering chart-topping and record-breaking hits.

Most recently, Asake completed his highly successful ‘Lungu Boy’ tour, during which he accomplished remarkable feats. Throughout the tour, he sold out several prestigious venues, including the iconic Madison Square Garden, Toyota Arena, TD Gardens, and Capital One Arena.

Moreover, he made history by becoming only the third Nigerian artist to headline the prestigious O2 Arena, further cementing his status in the international music scene.

Nigerian music sensation Oxlade made a global impact with his 2022 hit single “Kulosa”. The track quickly went viral and catapulted him to international stardom. Two years after its release, “Kulosa” has officially been certified gold in the United States, having achieved 500,000 units in sales.

The track, one of the most successful performances ever on Colors Studio, enjoyed commercial success. It amassed over 400 million streams on Spotify and racked up over 187 million views across two music videos on YouTube.

“Kulosa” particularly resonated in the United States. It spent several months on the Billboard Afrobeats Chart, peaking at No. 5.

This certification marks a significant milestone for Oxlade. This is because “Kulosa” became his first song to receive an RIAA plaque. The track has also earned certifications in several countries. These countries include France, Canada, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland.

“Kulosa” is one of the standout tracks from Oxlade’s debut album, “Oxlade From Africa”, which features collaborations with Nigerian music heavyweights Wande Coal and Flavour, Ugandan musician and politician Bobi Wine, Congolese star Fally Ipupa, and Jamaican artist Popcaan.

Initially, Oxlade has secured his place among RIAA-certified Nigerian artists. Additionally, this achievement aligns him with other successful Afrobeats musicians. Meanwhile, CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” continues to dominate with its impressive 7X platinum status.

Furthermore, this hit single steadily advances toward becoming Afrobeats’ first Diamond-certified track. Consequently, Oxlade’s certification contributes to the growing global recognition of Nigerian music.

Finally, his success reinforces the significant impact Afrobeats artists are making in the international music industry.
