Burna Boy sets Spotify record for opening day streams | Fab.ng

Burna Boy, a Nigerian musician, has become one of the world’s biggest artists since 2018. That year, his song ‘YE’ became very popular internationally. Since then, his songs, albums, and concerts have set many records for African music.

Recently, Burna Boy has set another record. His new song ‘Higher’ has achieved the most streams on its first day for a solo single on Spotify Nigeria. This information comes from TurnTable Charts, a company that tracks music popularity.

On its first full day after release, ‘Higher’ was played 530,792 times on Spotify Nigeria. This number is higher than the previous record. The old record was held by another Nigerian artist, Wizkid, whose song ‘Diamond’ was played 518,000 times on its first day.

Burna Boy’s ‘Higher’ also set a new record for the most streams on the first day for a solo song by any African artist. This information was shared by Chart Data, a platform that reports on music chart news. Before ‘Higher’, Burna Boy held this record with his 2023 song ‘City Boy’, which was nominated for a Grammy award.

These achievements show that Burna Boy is a global superstar. His music is setting new standards for African artists and is becoming more popular worldwide.

Burna Boy has been setting many records throughout the year.

One of his biggest achievements was his concert at the London Stadium. He became the first African artist to sell out all tickets for this venue twice. He was also the first African artist to headline two stadium concerts in the United Kingdom.

In addition to his success in the UK, Burna Boy has set records in North America. He now holds the record for the highest-grossing concert by an African artist in the United States. This means his concert made more money than any other African artist’s concert in the US. He also set a record in Canada, achieving the highest-grossing tour by an African artist in that country.

All these accomplishments demonstrate Burna Boy’s growing popularity and influence in the global music industry. He is not only succeeding as an African artist but is competing at the highest levels of international music. His continued success is helping to bring more attention to African music on the world stage.

Burna Boy’s journey from his breakout hit ‘YE’ to his current status as a record-breaking global star shows his growth as an artist and the increasing global appeal of African music. His achievements are opening doors for other African artists and changing perceptions of African music worldwide.

Raves & Roses surpasses 100 weeks on Billboard 200 | Fab.ng

Nigerian Afrobeats is taking the world by storm. Rema is at the forefront of this movement with his “Raves & Roses”. His award-winning music has not only achieved massive success in his home country but is also breaking records internationally.

Rema’s debut album, “Raves & Roses,” continues to be a global phenomenon.

Fueled by the mega-hit single “Calm Down,” the album has spent a staggering 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 Global Chart. With that, Rema is right behind Wizkid’s record-breaking “Made In Lagos” (133 weeks). This extended stay on the chart speaks volumes about the enduring popularity of “Raves & Roses” and Rema’s ability to create music with lasting appeal.

But Rema’s impact isn’t limited to album sales. “Calm Down” itself is a record-breaker, holding the Guinness World Record for the first-ever number-one song on the MENA chart. This recognition highlights the song’s international reach and influence.

The United States, in particular, has become a fertile ground for Rema’s success.

“Calm Down” soared to the coveted number three spot on the Billboard Hot 100. That was the highest peak ever achieved by a song from a Nigerian artist. It also shattered another record by holding its position on the chart for over 52 weeks, the longest run for a Nigerian artist song.

These achievements are further amplified by the song’s 4x RIAA Platinum certification in the US and its historic milestone of becoming the first African song to surpass 1 billion streams there. This is a monumental feat that paves the way for future Afrobeats artists and signifies a major win for the entire Nigerian music industry.

Rema isn’t resting on his laurels. He kicked off 2024 with a bang by collaborating with fellow Benin City star Shallipopi on “Benin Boys.” This song debuted at number one on the TurnTable Top 100 chart.

Rema’s record-breaking achievements are more than just personal victories. They mark a significant step forward for Afrobeats as a whole.

By captivating international audiences and breaking records, Rema is propelling Afrobeats into the mainstream spotlight and paving the way for other Nigerian artists to follow in his footsteps.

The “Timeless” album isn’t done breaking records.

On its release day and throughout its first week, the album shattered records to become the most streamed Nigerian album ever on Spotify.
