Nigerian music is rapidly gaining international recognition, with the prominent figures spearheading this global outreach consistently receiving both commercial success and critical acclaim. For the 2024 Brit Awards, renowned international artists Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema have all secured nominations.
Burna Boy and Asake were nominated in the Best International Artist category, sharing the spotlight with American superstars such as Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Sza, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lana Del Rey.
Rema, on the other hand, clinched a nomination for Best International Song with his chart-topping single ‘Calm Down.’
Additionally, other notable African contenders in the same category include Cameroonian-American singer Libianca, recognised for her hit single ‘People,’ and South African emerging star Tyla, acknowledged for her smash hit record ‘Water.’ This further shows the flourishing influence of African artists on the global stage.
