Osimhen Returns To Training After Injury Layoff

According to reports, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is returning to the pitch after missing time due to a hamstring injury he suffered while competing for the Super Eagles in October. The 24-year-old is actively practising to get back into shape even though he hasn’t played for his Italian team, SSC Napoli, in over a month.

Osimhen’s injury problems started during a friendly match in Portugal versus Saudi Arabia, causing him to miss eight games overall for his team and club. The prolific forward, who led Serie A in scoring the previous season, missed six games for Napoli in a variety of leagues.

Osimhen has reportedly returned to training, although on an individual basis, despite his absence, per sources from Football Italia. Although he was absent during the first training session under new manager Walter Mazzarri due to illness, he is diligently working on his recovery through personalized sessions on the pitch and in the gym.

The Super Eagles and Napoli are both benefiting from the Nigerian forward’s return to training. Coach Jose Peseiro’s Nigerian national side made a difficult start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign despite his absence, earning just two points from draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

As he continues his recuperation, Osimhen, who has six goals in eight games for Napoli and is presently third in the Serie A goal-scoring standings, will be looking to go back to full fitness and have a big effect for both club and country.

Singer Jason Derulo got candid about a shocking past injury during a recent appearance on Paris Hilton’s podcast “I Am Paris.” Derulo revealed that he actually broke his neck in 2013 while training in the gym in preparation for his “Future History World Tour.”

The incident sounded horrific. Derulo described experiencing a fall that left him fearing the worst. The severity of the injury was so significant that it ultimately forced him to cancel his entire world tour.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Derulo persevered. He shared with Hilton that his recovery process took roughly seven months. This experience undoubtedly served as a major challenge, but Derulo’s determination to heal and get back on his feet is surely an inspiring story for many.

He said,

“I broke my neck in 2013. I was getting ready for my world tour and working with this trainer. He was like, ‘Today, we’re going to work on endurance, so I need you to do these back tucks back-to-back.’ I slipped during one of the back tucks, and I landed on my head, breaking my C-2 vertebrae. As soon as it happened, I heard a big crack, and I was like, ‘Holy s**t, is this it? Is this how it all ends?'”

“All the thoughts you could imagine are going through my head at the time, and I remember thinking to myself, ‘S–t, my mom is in the car waiting for me outside.’ I didn’t want to scare her.”

Jason Derulo was only 22 years old at the time of the accident. Even though the injury sounds serious, he tried to downplay it. While holding his neck in pain, he simply told his mom he was hurt.

“I think I just hurt myself a little bit,” before asking to take him to the hospital “just to check it out.”

“The doctor was like, ‘Well, I have some good news and some bad news,’ Jason noted of his X-rays. “‘You’re still here with us and can move all your limbs. The bad news is you’re going to be out for seven months,'” he added.

Nigerian singer Banky W surprised fans with some exciting news. It turns out he’s going back to school. On July 4th, 2024, the dad of one announced on Instagram that he’s pursuing a Master’s degree in policy at an American university.

In his post, Banky W shared a video that gives a glimpse of his student life so far. He included moments in the classroom with his teachers and classmates. He even mentioned that he’s traded in his CEO title for the role of a student again!

His caption read,

“Gave up being a CEO to become a student… because sometimes you have to let go of what’s impressive to gain what’s important. I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Policy at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The journey of faith continues. Please wish me well 🙏🏽🫶🏽🙌🏽😊.”

Banky W’s decision to return to school wasn’t met with surprise alone. His fans, followers, and most importantly, his wife Adesua Etomi-Wellington, showered him with support. The comment section of his Instagram post overflowed with messages of encouragement and congratulations. You can say this shows how much people respect his commitment to learning and self-improvement.

Adesua proudly wrote, “I just want everyone to know that my husband is a true efiko and has gotten A’s so far. I’m soooo proud.”

She also commented, “I just came back to say I am DEEPLY INSPIRED by you, and I’m not saying this cause I’m your wife. If I weren’t your wife, I’d be jealous of your wife. You are the exact kind of man that impresses me. My honourable.”

After an earlier attempt by Chef Failatu Abdul Razak fell short, they launched a second attempt at a Guinness World Records ‘cookathon’ record on February 1st. This time, Chef Ebenezer Smith took centre stage. He set up his cooking station in Spintex and spent the next 35 days, a total of 820 hours, continuously creating culinary delights.

Chef Smith’s impressive feat sparked excitement in Ghana, with hopes of setting a new West African record. This comes on the heels of another record-breaking attempt by Afua Asantewaa for a singing marathon. Ghana seems to be on a roll when it comes to attempting Guinness World Records!

However, things took a turn. GHone TV, a Ghanaian television station, contacted Guinness World Records. In an email response, Guinness World Records cleared the air about Chef Smith’s claim.

The email stated,

“No, this is not true at all. He does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate. The current and true record holder is: The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from 28 September to 3 October 2023.”

Guinness World Records (GWR) also revealed that the cookathon record category is no longer active.

They explained that GWR sometimes deactivates records for various reasons. For example, they stopped judging the “fastest violinist” record in 2017 because they couldn’t ensure the quality of the violin playing.

“As a good rule of thumb—if you can’t measure, weigh, or count it—then it’s probably not a record!” is GWR’s mantra for discontinuing records and applications.

Things got messy after Chef Smith, also known as Millennium Chef, held a press conference to announce himself as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon. Reports say security personnel in police and military uniforms arrived and chased him out.

Apparently, Nana Boroo, who might have sponsored the event, brought them due to a possible disagreement with Chef Smith, possibly a broken contract.
