The African International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2023, which concluded last week, unfolded intriguing updates. Spanning from November 5 to November 11, 2023, the festival concluded with the prestigious Globe Award ceremony held in Lagos, Nigeria.

RMD becomes Anakle Films chairman
Nigerian actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) and film producer, Editi Effiong have officially announced a new collaboration.
At the AFRIFF panel on November 8, 2023, Effiong revealed that his production company, Anakle Films, is set to take over RMD’s production company. This strategic merger has resulted in RMD assuming the role of chairman at Anakle Films.

Iwaju wraps up production ahead of debut
In collaboration with the African entertainment company, Kugali Comic Studios, Disney developed an animation series titled “Iwaju“, first announced in 2020.
Co-created by Tolu Olowofoyeku, Ziki Nelson, and Hamid Ibrahim, the completion of the series was disclosed during a panel discussion at AFRIFF.
Olowofoyeku further confirmed a new debut date for the series in 2024, contradicting the initially scheduled release in 2023. Notably, the animation is set against the backdrop of Lagos, Nigeria.
