The Social Media Awards (SMA) have established a platform to recognize and honor individuals and organizations contributing to the growth and impact of the social media sphere.
The 2023 Nigerian Social Media Awards seek to acknowledge outstanding achievements in diverse social media platforms and celebrate the significant contributions made in this digital realm. This initiative aims to foster improvement and innovation within the social media landscape. Prior to the event, so many winners emerged.
Nigerian rapper and songwriter, Folarin Falana, popularly known as “Falz,” has been honoured with the Social Media Awards (SMA) for his exceptional use of social media during crises.
Additionally, in recognition of their engagement and impact on social media, Nollywood actress, Bimbo Ademoye, was awarded the title of the most engaging actress, while Stan Nze received the honour of the most engaging actor.
The award ceremony took place in Lagos, with Emmanuel Nwafor, CEO of Alternative Adverts Ltd., and the awards’ convener, commending the recipients for their outstanding contributions to social media engagement.
Nwafor emphasized that the event aimed to recognize individuals and organizations that use social media innovatively and effectively for various purposes, including spreading joy, raising awareness for important causes, and providing valuable information and entertainment.
He expressed the hope that recipients of these awards will be inspired to think more positively about social media’s potential for good and strive to be acknowledged for their achievements. Nwafor also emphasized how crucial it is for social media influencers and content creators to connect, exchange ideas, and support the continued development of the sector.
Nwafor shared his vision for Nigeria’s social media awards to eventually celebrate a homegrown social media platform with millions of downloads, urging attendees to consider becoming social media entrepreneurs. He highlighted the value of data in the digital age and the immense potential of having a social media app with millions of users.
During the ceremony, various awards were presented, recognizing accomplishments in audience engagement, influencer categories, content creation, and brand engagement on social media. Among the winners were TECNO CAMON 20, Steady Night Portrait Master, TECNO Mobile Nigeria for the best audience engagement campaign, and Arise News for the most engaging TV station on social media.
Other winners included Lush Hair Nigeria (most engaging beauty brand), Jumia Nigeria (best use of social media by an e-commerce company), Ify Mogekwu kitchen (food influencer of the year), Simply Tacha (social media influencer of the year), and Odinaka Chukwueze (overall best social media content creator), among others.
The celebration honoured social media influencers, brands, and content creators for their valuable contributions to the online world and highlighted their ability to reach millions of users via social media platforms.
