A breakup can be very painful and there’s never really an easy way to handle it.
Your memories together work against you, all the time and emotions you’ve invested into the relationship tries to make you relapse.
You might find it difficult to move on but you should.Whatever the reason for your breakup: drifting, infidelity, boredom, there are a few things you should never do after a breakup:
Don’t Keep In Touch
Unless it was a mutual breakup or you had become bored with the relationship, its probably a bad idea to keep in touch. Remember you are trying to move on so you need to give yourself the chance to be single. You probably had a routine with your ex but keeping in touch will only prevent you from moving on with your life.
Don’t Revenge
No matter the circumstances surrounding your breakup, always try to act like an adult. Thinking about revenge will only have you acting like a bitter, scorned woman who’s gone crazy. Not to talk of the fact that you can land in serious legal trouble. So be the bigger person and just walk away.
Don’t Pretend To Be Okay
This is not the best time to try to “fake it till you make it”. Typically, you feel very emotional, angry, depressed or relieved. Whatever emotion you feel, let it flow through you. A good way to handle a breakup is to give yourself the opportunity to sob properly; that is the first step to really and truly getting over your ex and moving on with your life.
Don’t Make Any Permanent Decisions
After a breakup, you’re not in any position to make any major decisions. You’re not thinking rationally and might do something you would regret eventually. Visit friends, scream, cry and whine if you have to but when you get over it, you’d be grateful you don’t have any permanent reminder of all that unpleasantness.
Don’t Stalk Him Online
If you feel like you’re not strong enough to handle a breakup then its probably a good idea to unfriend or hide his status updates so you can resist the temptation of constantly checking how awesome his life is or isn’t without you in it. Also never post anything about the breakup online, no matter how vague.
