‘I think he’s a terrible president. He’s manifestly unqualified, not curious, not good at legislating or doing anything that his job requires.’ ‘He doesn’t have any depth about any subject and he’s also using the office of the presidency to make money for himself and his businesses, so he’s corrupt.’
‘I can’t say anything nice about the guy. I think he’s one of the worst people I’ve ever encountered in public life.’
John Legend came out swinging in defence of Obama who has been criticised for accepting a hefty speaking fee from Wall Street. Obama’s detractors said that was hypocritical since he had previously been ‘against Wall Street.’ Legend said:
‘I think it’s a silly distinction. He was never against Wall Street. ‘His Dodd-Frank law and the other things he did were to regulate Wall Street so they wouldn’t cheat the American people and and they wouldn’t destroy the financial system again. And he did that, and he can still get paid to show up and speak somewhere.’
Obama is booked to give the $400,000 speech – his annual salary as president – in September at a healthcare conference run by investment firm Cantor Fitzgerald.
