The Federal Road Service Commission in a statement issued by its Head, Media Relations and Strategy Mr Bisi Kazeem,  on Sunday in Abuja stated that the Federal Road Safety Commision FRSC, had deployed 600 patrol vehicles, 15 tow trucks, 50 ambulances, 85 motor bikes and 20,000 personnel for patrol on the highways during the Eid-al-Fitri celebrations. It stated that the massive deployment along designated routes was part of measures to ensure sanity on the nation’s highways.

It said that the operation would take effect from July 3 to 7, 2016, to curb road crashes in pursuant of the commission’s 2016 strategic goals towards improving road safety in Nigeria.

“This year’s nationwide exercise which is a partial fulfillment of the corps 2016 strategic goals of reducing road crashes by 15 per cent and fatality by 25 per cent, has become necessary to ensure safer road use, especially during the festive periods.

“The special patrol also entails intensive patrols, prompt rescue services, strict enforcement of traffic rules and robust public enlightenment campaigns across the nation,” the statement read.

The statement said that the 24 emergency ambulance response centers located at designated routes across the country would be operational.

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered a massive deployment of Police personnel across the country during the Eid el-Fitri celebrations.

Idris directed that all Zonal Headquarters and Command Commissioners of Police should ensure adequate security in their areas of responsibilities throughout the duration of the celebration. He warned that officers should be deployed evenly to cover the highways, worship and recreation centers, government installations and all vulnerable points in order to give Nigerians feasible sense of safety and security as they celebrate the Eid-el-fitri and go about their lawful business.

While assuring the nation that the Nigeria Police Force will provide adequate security with robust and proactive patrols during and after the celebrations, IGP Idris said it is his belief that the Nigeria Police Force under his watch will be people-oriented and problem solving Police and that nobody should be afraid to give useful information to the Police as every information will be treated with the confidentiality it deserves.

The movie “What About Us?” tells the story of a married couple facing challenges in their relationship.

Their struggles intensify when a new couple moves in next door, and the wife develops an inappropriate closeness with the new husband.

While Pastor Emmanuel Iren gets credit as the movie’s executive producer and the one who conceived the original story, the film is a collaborative effort. Ife Olujuyigbe wrote the screenplay, Kayode Kasum directed it, and Bisola Badejo and Tochukwu Macdonald Sunday were the producers. The movie hit Nigerian cinemas on July 12, 2024.

Pastor Iren, a prominent figure in Nigeria, is not only a pastor but also a gospel singer and songwriter. He leads Celebration Church International (CCI), a church he founded during his university days. Over time, CCI has grown in popularity, particularly among young Nigerians, and now has branches across Nigeria, Canada, and the UK. “What About Us?” was produced by Pastor Iren’s own production company, Narrative Entertainment.

In an optimistic Instagram post, Pastor Iren hinted at even greater things to come, calling the movie’s box office success “just the beginning.”

Just the beginning. Thank you all for your support. Guess what? #WHATABOUTUS wasn’t just the number 1 movie in Nollywood last weekend, but the number 1 movie. I’m glad for the feedback, reviews and love,” he said.
